This is a quiet moment for you to take in some of my travels both locally and abroad. For those who could do with a little noise, each collection is accompanied by an ever-growing playlist of songs that I feel reflect my mood when each image was created. These playlists, including musical artists from where the photos were taken, aim to help us connect with nature and culture to appreciate the world around us. While I have a catalog of thousands of images to share- these are the ones I am ready to share with the world.

Ísland

My time in Iceland has been brief, yet full of depth. This first collection is dedicated to the Bruarfoss and it’s swirling blue beauty. I’m reminded of the water’s roar loud paired with its soft soothing color. The second song of the playlist is a song I hummed to myself many times in Iceland, but none more than at the Bruarfoss.

Tulip Study

One morning I was walking along the National Mall during cherry blossom season. I saw these tulips and found them to be more enchanting. Their vibrance and smooth textures popped against the darker cloudy skies as the sun peaked through here and there. The richness of the soil at their roots. 20ft away cars passed by in morning traffic, but I managed to find a quiet moment and even some laughter in these flowers. Perhaps you will too.

Aotearoa 2017

Of all my travels none have called back to me more than my trip around Te Ika-a-Maui (North Island), Aotearoa (New Zealand). Snapshots of Piha, Rotorua, Taupo, and Waitomo in early Autumn. Colossal waters and formations. The vast sky. Vivid colors. Adorable sheep.

Nelumbonaceae

A stroll through the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens in Northeast DC to see the flowers in bloom before they all disappear. Access to nature in a city is already scarce- especially when you live in a tree-inequitable food desert where many of the city’s infrastructure issues can be experienced first-hand. The coincidence of these flowers that grow and flourish in mud being directly in the middle of the hood is what made me so intrigued to see them in the first place.

Mount Sanitas

After deciding I didn’t need to bring anything extra with me I hiked a good 15 minutes before realizing I had 20 shots left and the camera was on its way to dying so I had to make every shot count. An oddly quiet trail with barely a breeze after a windy drive down a snowy mountain. Meeting a German traveler at the top of the climb. A moment of calm before heading back to Denver. Mount Sanitas you were lovely.
